
Members of Star Café communities may need to log in to be granted privileges for certain rooms. Once logged in, they are identified throughout the Star Café by the ‘display name’ and e-mail address in their account profile. These items, as well as the user’s password, can be modified by the user when necessary.
· Anyone who has been invited to a private room in the Star Café has a user account profile, which can be updated by the user as necessary
· To enter a private room a user needs to log into the Star Café
· You do not need a user account to use Community rooms in the Star Café

While everyone is invited to visit in the community rooms of the Star Café, some of the information in the Star Café is meant to be shared only within a certain community. To access this information, users enter a private room, where they are identified as part of the community by logging in with a username and password. Once logged in, users are granted the level of access assigned by the room host. Users are recognized as a reader (read only), a contributor (add items, such as documents or discussion post), or possibly a level with some room design privileges to assist the owner or host.
Once logged in, users are identified throughout the Star Café by the ‘display name’ and e-mail address in their account profile. If a user changes their e-mail address, they need to update their profile so that system messages and alerts will reach them. Users also have the ability to change their display name, so that they are properly identified. These items, as well as the user’s password, can be modified by the user when necessary, after they have logged in.
A user can change their password using the following steps:
· Click Admin at the top left of the page, then click Site Settings.
· Under “Manage My Information”, click on Update my information, then click on Change password.
· Type the old password in “Old password”. Type the new password (7-character minimum) in both “New password” and “Confirm new password”, then click on the OK button.
A user can update their e-mail information using the
following steps:

Go to the Admin menu--Site Settings; in the “Manage My Information” section,
click on Update My Information.

Click on Edit User Information in the header bar.

Enter the updated e-mail address information in the “E-mail Address:” field.

Click on Save and Close in the header bar to register the change.
A user can update their display name using the following
steps:

Go to the Admin menu--Site Settings; in the “Manage My Information” section,
click on Update My Information.

Click on Edit User Information in the header bar.

Enter the desired display name in the “Display Name:” field.

Click on Save and Close in the header bar to register the change.
If a user forgets their password, they can request a new one via e-mail to Star Cafe. The e-mail should clearly identify the user with their original e-mail address (the one that starts with their username), or the user’s first and last name. A reply will be sent out with a new password.
