The “About this room...” Document

A. Summary:

Each room in the Star Café will have an “About this room...” document to be filled out and maintained by the room’s host. The document is available from the FAQs section of the Navigation Zone, and it contains information about the room, the community it serves, the room owner, and the room host.

·    Each Star Café SharePoint room will have an “About this room...” document referenced under FAQs in the Navigation Zone

·    The “About this room...” document is completed and maintained by the host of the room

·    “About this room...” is an editable Word .htm document found in the “Shared Documents” library of each room

C. Details:

Each room in the Star Café will have an “About this room...” document to be filled out and maintained by the room’s host. The document will be available from the FAQs section of the Navigation Zone, and will contain information about the room, the community it serves, the room owner, and the room host. The document serves as an introduction to the room for those who enter. While the document is not officially a Star Point, it is laid out in Star Point format.

“About this room...” is an editable Word .htm document found in the “Shared Documents” library of each room. To edit the document, from the Admin menu (on the menu bar, or in the Help menu), select Documents & Lists, and the Shared Documents library. Choose Edit in Microsoft Office Word from the edit menu, which is activated by pointing to the document name and clicking on the triangle which appears at the right. There are embedded instructions for completing the recommended information in the document. Here is the Key Points section of the document, which contains all of the information to be filled in.

·         The “???” community consists of (their characteristics)

·         This room contains (some tools) for the “???” community

·         This room is (open/closed/restricted/?) to the public

·         The owner of this room is Owner Name (right-click on the name and select Edit Hyperlink)

·         The host of the room is Host Name (right-click on the name and select Edit Hyperlink)

·         The Star Café is supported by the AFSC IT Department

·         For corrections, updates, or clarifications on this document, please email Host Name (right-click on the name and select Edit Hyperlink)

 

The three question marks (“???”) hold a place for the room name. There are hyperlinks prepared for the owner name, the host name, and another for the host name in case the reader wants to correspond with the author about this document itself. Each of the hyperlinks should be set up with the room name in the “Subject” field, the owner or host’s name in the “Text to display:” field, and a “mailto:” reference to the person’s e-mail in the “E-mail address” field.

Save the document after it has been filled in and it will be available to those visiting the room.
